"A JOINT PROJECT OF THE PRIVATE ASECTOR AND THE CITY GOVERNMENT GIVING FREE MEDICINES TO THE POOREST OF THE POOR RESIDENTS OF TAGBILARAN CITY"

Though it is the policy of the City of Tagbilaran to ensure good health and general welfare of its constituents, it has been heard that a number had died of illnesses in the city without ever been treated with medicines.

Botika sa Katawhan, making free medicines available to the poorest of the poor of Tagbilaran, is a projectborne out of the recognition that inaccessibility and non-affordability of medicines have more often than not caused this disabling disparity among the residents of the city.

The project is an offshoot of several endeavors namely Bundles of Joy, Medical Missions, and Free Clinics targeted to provide relief services to a selected sector of the city that had been undertaken by a few highly active and concerned residents who took the initiative of soliciting medicines from foundations in both the United States of America (USA) and local donors.

But limitations have been observed among these endeavors. Those who get sick during any time other than the scheduled medical mission or free clinic can avail of these services so that not all those who would have needed more medical attention are attended to. There is also no follow-up on these activities and on the beneficiaries as well so that services are of a noe-shot and piecemeal nature.

BENEFICIARIES
The target beneficiaries of the project shall be indigent residents of the city. The applicant must meet the requirements that may be determined by the body and or those enumerated under Article 5 of the Blue Card Ordinance.

Blue Card Holders and applicants enrolled in the Sponsored Indigent Program of the Philippine Helath Insurance Corporation are still qualified to avail of such services.
