In the heart of Tagbilaran City. there was once a huge, tall tree famous for its beauty and elegance. One summer afternoon a group of Spanish clergies rested under the shades of the magnificent tree. They inquired from an old man for the name of the place. The old man was hearing impaired. He thought that Spaniards were asking for the name of the tree and answered "DAO". From that time on the Spaniards or clergies called the place Dao.

The tree was no longer there but it's shade and beauty still linger in the memories of the dwellers and passers by. They still love to call the place Dao, meaning a wonderful and useful tree. A big tree then, located 80 meters directly in front the ancient chapel and now the "Holy Cruz Parish Church".
