| A marvel in engineering skill and Gothic architectural structure, it was originally constructed by the Jesuit missionary order in 1595, but was reconstructed and enlarged during the stint of Fr. Valero de San Pascual (1839-1855). Added to the main edifice was a convent of stone, wood, bamboo plastered with lime which Fr. Lucas Corominas built in 1872. Twelve years later, Fr. Jose Sancho undertook the task of building the stone bell-tower which was completed in 1888. In 1894, Fr. Escolastico Enciso gave its interior the regal touch. |
