According to the information gathered from the old residents of Ubujan, way back 1920, there was a big source of water coming from the mountain going downward to the national road. Due to the strong source, the water splashed upward, downward, continuously thereby supplying the rice field and gabi (paw) plants with sufficient water. The big source of water was a gift from God to the residents of Ubujan at that time. People lived contentedly because they had enough supply of food they needed the whole year.
People who would like to go this place to refer the source as the making points. They named the place Ulbujan. As years passed by, the place was called Ubujan, deleting the letter L from the original name. The big source of water is already gone but the name remains up to the present.
In 1932, during the incumbency of Tagbilaran Councilors Leoncio Redondo and Fausto Budlong, all residents of Ubujan conferred to change the word Ulbujan to Ubujan. A resolution was made and sent to Manila. Such brought forth the approval of the word Ubujan as a legalized name of said barrio.
